Virginia B. Phillips (68) passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022. She was a native of Liberty County, a devoted wife of 42 years to Evan L. Phillips. Virginia graduated from Liberty County High school and attended Savannah Technical College. She obtained her Associate’s degree and later obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Brewton Parker College.
Virginia was preceded in death by Ramone Lumpkin (infant son), Mr. Willie and Ethel Lumpkin (parents), Charles Lumpkin, Sr (brother), Lillian Ann Harden-Bell (sister).
She is survived by her husband, Evan L. Phillips, 4 daughters: Crissema Bennett (Edgar), Dwaynea S. Carroll (Malcolm), Joell Phillips, Yvonne C. Phillips; 10 grandchildren: Shatara Rogers, Imani Fielder, Dere’ana Phillips, Antonious Bizzard Jr, Ramone Phillips, Tajii Bizzard, Alazai Thomas, Jaiquize Wilkins-Phillips, Madison Carroll, and Alexander Chisholm, 5 great-grand-children: Amariah Rogers, Ka’ri Phillips, Kyln Rogers, Micah Simmons, and Na’Mari Phillips. 10 Siblings: Ronnie Frieske, Susan Golden, Thelma Lumpkin, Alberta Frison, Cathy Holmes (Tyrone), Clarence Lumpkin, Simon Lumpkin (Shelah), Henry Lumpkin (Peggy), Curtis Lumpkin (Barbara), and Willie Lumpkin.
Visitation will be on April 1, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Dorchester Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on April 2, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the Saint James Community Center.
