A Time to be Born…
Otis DEVillars, Sr., was born to the late Ed DEVillars and Maybell Jackson on March 03, 1933.
A Time to Plant…
His life was rooted in Richmond Hill, Georgia where he grew up.
A Time to Learn…
He attended George Washington Carver School in Richmond Hill, until he had to leave to help his family.
A Time to Love…
On June 13, 1953, he married his love, Gladys Solomon, and from this union five children were born.
A Time to Build…
He was first employed as a motor operator with Wilson oil Company, Bryan County. He later worked at Pepsi Bottling Co. in Savannah, Georgia, Georgia Ports Authority and International Paper Company, Bryan County Georgia, and then his final job of 40 years with James Hearns Logging Company where he retired.
A time to Laugh…
The joys of his life were his children, grandchildren, friends, and his many relatives. He loved to cook, and he cooked for everyone.
A Time to Die…
The final call of God to come was received by him on March 23, 2023. He was 90 years old. His loving wife of 37 years, one son, Babyy Baby DEVillars, and four brothers, Henry Jackson, Willie Jackson, Joe Demery, Jr., Baby Brother Demery, and Joseph DEVillars, Sr., preceded him in death.
A Time of Peace…
The legacy of his season is left to one daughter, Deaconess Mae DEVillars Boles; three sons, Otis “Luke” DEVillars, Jr., Charles “Charlie” E. DEVillars, Michael A. (Velma “Juice”) DEVillars; 37 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 21 great great-grandchildren; two brothers-in law, Mr. James Solomon, Savannah, Georgia and Deacon Harry (Deaconess Gracie “Dolly” Greene, Richmond Hill, Georgia; sister-in law, Mrs. Carrie DeVillars, Savannah, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
