Nazerene Marie Hines - Mention

Nazerene Marie Hines-Mention was born October 13, 1990 to Walter III and Mary Hines in Savannah, Georgia.  She was educated in the public school system of Liberty County and graduated from Liberty County High School in Hinesville, Georgia in 2009.  She received a track and field scholarship to attend Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC., where she received many accolades.  Nazerene later returned home to attend Armstrong Atlantic State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice in 2013.  It was her love for children that later led to her employment with the Liberty County School System.  Before going into the school system, Nazerene was employed with the Liberty County DFCS for 5 years.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Jordan Mention on May 3, 2022.  Nazerene boar two children, Zaylen and Naliyah Hines.

At an early age she became a member of Zion Temple Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Elder Nathaniel Walthour Sr.  She later became a member of The Ministries of Jesus Christ Deliverance Outreach Center (now Mt. Calvary Holiness Church), under the leadership of Overseer Nick C. Law-Hines.  While serving, she wore many hats as she played the keyboard for her church, was part of security, involved with technology, and did whatever was asked of her.  She was also involved in the community as she was the Secretary for the MLK observance day committee in Liberty County.  Her favorite Football team was the Pittsburg Steelers and her favorite Basketball team was the Los Angeles Lakers.

Nazerene was called from labor to reward on Thursday, July 27, 2023.  She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Walter Jr. and Marie Hines; her maternal grandparents Freddie Sr. and Nazarene Walthour; her uncles, Philip and Mark Walthour; and her aunts, Shirl Edwards and Nancy Hines. 

Her memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Jordan Mention.  Son - Zaylen Hines.  Daughter - Naliyah Hines.  Her parents - Walter III and Mary Hines all of Riceboro, Georgia.  Her brother - Joshua Hines of Richmond Hill, Georgia.  Her mother-in-law, Nattalie Wooten; brother-in-law, Joseph Wooten; sister-in-law, Marvie Joy Wooten; all of Brunswick, Georgia.  Her godmother - Betty Richardson, of Savannah, Georgia. Uncles - Freddie Jr. (Eloise) Walthour, Kirtley (Josephine) Walthour, Michael (Shirley) Walthour, Stephen Sr. (Latricia) Walthour; all of Midway, Georgia.  Nick Law-Hines and Warren (Carol) Hines, of Riceboro, Georgia.  Aunts - Audrey Hines-Walthour “Nazerene’s Auntie Mama”, of Riceboro, Georgia; Evelyn (Dennis) Olson, of Spanaway, Washington; Wilhelmina (Nathaniel) Blue and Carolyn Morris, all of Hinesville, Georgia; Carolyn Walthour, of Midway, Georgia; and Iona Jones, of Texas.  A host of uncles, aunts, cousins, church family, other relatives, and friends!
