Melvin Maxwell Mobley Jr, affectionately called ‘Junior’ was born on September 26,1926 to the late Melvin “Boy” and Elsie Reddish Mobley in Wayne County Georgia.

He was baptized early and was a member of St. Thomas  Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School as a boy.  He graduated from Long County High School. Dad joined the Army in 1945 and received an Honorable Discharge.  He was proud of his service as a Veteran of World War II. He worked for ITT Rayonier, Wayne-Line Furniture Company, and the Georgia Department of Transportation, where he received The Faithful Service Award. He was active in the church, serving as chairman of the Deacon Board at Morning Glory  Missionary  Baptist Church.  His favorite Hymn was “Jesus Keep Me Near The Cross”.  Daddy loved to sing and was a member of the Voices of Wayne Male Choir.  His favorite song was Hold onto God’s Unchanging Hand.
