“Look UP and tell God Thank You”
The family of Sis. Martha Jane Taylor is pleased to announce that she has gained her wings and received her new address in Glory on June 18, 2021, to live with her father in Heaven and for this we give God praise.
Sis. Martha Jane Taylor (Strickland) was born May 13, 1942, in Hinesville, GA to the late Berry Strickland and Clifford Lillian Strickland (King). She was one of six children. She was a product of the Liberty County School System where she latergraduated from Liberty County High School. Sis. Taylor later became an employee on Ft. Stewart for program assistance (daycare) where she taught, cared, and loved for children of our military/armed forces for thirty-five years. Sis. Martha was a devoted and faithful member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, Hinesville, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Missionary, Choir Member, Usher, Treasurer, Praise Dancer (Guiding Lights), and professional “welcomist.”
Sis. Taylor was a woman who loved the Lord and left a lasting impression on anyone she met. She would always remind those around her to always “look UP and give God praise” no matter the situation. She absolutely loved children and stood firm on instilling sound principles into them. She was a devoteddaughter, sister, mother, and friend who enjoyed creating floral arrangements and meaningful keepsakes that would last a lifetime.
Sis. Martha Taylor was preceded in death by her siblings Rosa Strickland, Roosevelt Strickland, Carl Strickland, Ellis Strickland, and (niece) Lorene Grigsby. She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother (retired) SFC Curtis Strickland (Nina), three beautiful children: Ronald D. Taylor (Yvette), Donald A. Taylor (Carolyn), and April L. Golston (Terrance); threegrandchildren: Donald A. Taylor, Jr. (TeAndra), Akeem J. Taylor, and Tamara L. Roberts (Jermaine); One great-grandson: Carson Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at Noon at Bethel A.M.E. Church, 233 Gause Street, Hinesville, GA 31313. The family will have visitation at Dorchester Funeral home, Midway, GA on Saturday, June 26, 2021, from 3pm-5pm. Floral arrangements will be received at Dorchester Funeral home.
