Lillie London Obituary

Some glad morning when this life is o'er, I'll fly away; to a home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away.

Lillie Ruth London transitioned into her heavenly home on March 29, 2023. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas on July 21, 1953, to the parentage of Lemuel Coley and Trotha Lee Mayo Brown and L. C. Brown. 

Lillie attended public schools in Little Rock, North Little Rock, Jacksonville and received her high school diploma from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, AR. Lillie was astrong believer in education. She obtained an Associates of Arts Degree from Shorter Junior College and later earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo College.Lillie began her federal government career at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey as a Procurement Clerk. Being the loving military wife that she was, she gladly traveled extensively with her husband to support him in his military career. Upon his assignment to Fort Stewart, Lillie was able to continue her federal government career at the US Corps of Engineers of Savannah, Georgia until her retirement in 2001.  

Lillie accepted Christ at an early age under the leadership of her then Pastor, William Johnson. She married the love of her life, Cleotis London on August 6, 1971. Lillie was a faithfulmember of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Hinesville, Georgia where she served in the deaconess ministry.

Lillie was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Velvatina N. Cunningham; brothers, Wyatt C. Brown, James E. Brown; sisters, Warren J. Jackson, Lular Brown, and Regina Jenkins.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 52 years, Cleotis London, three sons, Ennis C. London, Richard D. London, and Patrick N. London; two brothers, Don Brown of Little Rock, Arkansas, Lee C. Brown of Dorchester, MA; three sisters, Kitty Hall of Toledo, OH, Martha Thorton of Hinesville, GA, and Mary Williams of Memphis, TN; seventeen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Lillie will be dearly missed and fondly remembered for her affectionate smile, generous and loving spirit and for her lovefor family and most especially, her “honey bun”.
