Mrs. Lelia Mae Mitchell departed her fulfilling life peaceably at dawn, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, with these words: I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8
Lelia was the eldest of two children born to Curtis and Ethel Roberts Shipman while on tour in Nuremberg, Germany on September 22, 1976. Lelia was a beautiful spirit that could draw anyone even when she was at her lowest point. She was an encourager, even when she needed to be encouraged herself, loving, caring and a giver who touched so many lives. She enjoyed helping her family, community and anyone that needed help. She was a certified nursing assistant for several years. Though health challenges occurred, she graduated from Columbia College and became an entrepreneur, a licensed tax preparer and business consultant of Jamarco’s Tax Service in Townsend, Georgia.
Sister Mitchell’s true fellowship with the Lord and Mt. Sinai Church of Ludowici, GA began in the year of 2019. She became a prayer warrior and an attentive listener on Bible study, following the instructions of the Lord.
Mrs. Mitchell cherished her precious moments with her devoted husband of seventeen years to Mr. Torrey Mitchell of Townsend, GA; as a loving and caring mom to Jamarco Shipman of Townsend, GA; as a grandmother with an endless love for London Shipman of Miami, FL, who brought so much joy and sunshine to her life.
