On Thursday, October 19, 2023, God called the roll to proclaim His angel, Bro. Larry Donell Smiley.
Mr. Larry Smiley was born February 4, 1971, to the late Bennie Lee Smiley Sr. and Dorothy Baggs-Smiley in Jesup, Georgia.
He was educated in the Long County School System and received many hours of on-the-job training in concrete finishing, plumbing, and carpentry from his father. Larry was also a skilled heavy equipment operator. He was employed by several local construction companies and worked a total of 15 years at Chemtall with Commercial Industrial Construction (CIC) and Daybreak Industrial (DBI). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and watching sports. He was a diehard fan of the Los Angeles Lakers, and his favorite player was LeBron James. He was known as the family grill master and seafood cooking expert. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Gail Smiley and Nadine Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memories daughter: Tatyana Smiley of Ludowici, GA; 4 sisters: Patricia (Theodore) Harris of Midway, GA, Sherry (Herve) Smiley-Fedon, Gloria (Jimmy) Walker, and Beverly (Leroy) Hill of Ludowici, GA, and an adopted sister, Sherold Grant of Ludowici, Georgia; 4 brothers: Jeffery (Blanche) Baggs of Newark NJ, Bennie (Annette) Smiley Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Alvin Smiley of Ludowici, GA, and Jerry Smiley of Atlanta, GA. 13 nieces and nephews: Schmeka, Candis, Leslie, Ashley, Adrian, Ebony, Michelle, Kimberly, Malik, Celest, Essence, Maya, and Myjah; 19 great-nieces & nephews: Marquan, Aman, Najee, Kaden, A’Niya, Jy’dan, Jorian, Jaela, Ethan, Adriana, Terrance Jr., Mila, Ellis, Elliot, Kamari, Jakarrah, Trey, Kai, and Kiyan; five aunts, Rosalee Johnson, Joyce Baggs, Cathy Baggs, Estella (Fred) Nelson, and Earlene Bymon; five uncles, William (Lenora) Baggs, Elder Roosevelt (Eva Ann) Ashley, Artis (Rosena) Baggs, James (Arletha) Baggs, and Eugene (Dorothy) Ashley; a devoted friend, Mr. Ronny Johnson, and a host of cousins and sorrowing friends who will miss him.
