Jacqueline Day Obituary

Mrs. Jacqueline Delores “Jacqui” Day, daughter of Nathaniel Woodward and the late Vonnie Lee Westberry Woodward was born on November 30, 1961 in Hartford Connecticut. She attended public and catholic schools of Hartford County (Northwest Elementary, Assumption Junior High, East Catholic High School) and was a graduate of Thomas Snell Weaver High School. Shortly after graduating high school, Jacqui served in the US Army where she continued her education by attending Howard University with her degree in Dental Hygiene. That was a profession that lasted 20 years and then when that season in her life had been done, she had decided that she wanted to go back to school to excel at a trade that she was well familiar with. Jacqui decided to attend Virginia College to pursue her career as a culinary chef where she then later started working as a chef at the Trade Center on Hutchinson Island in Savannah, GA. At an early age, she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and became a dutiful member wherever she served. She served faithfully wearing many hats in church as President of Tabernacle of Faith COGIC Women’s Dept., Chairlady of the Abundant Life District Women’s Dept, President of the Executive Hospitality, Tennessee Metropolitan Jurisdiction COGIC. She also served as Missionary Circle President, YPWW Leader, District Youth Chairlady, Hospitality/Greeters President and Pastor’s Aide Leader, and the list goes on.

She was united in matrimony to Dexter Day on December 29, 2004.They had been happily married for 18 years and Dexter had been there by her side until her last breath.

Jacqui Day was an active member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority as well as an active member of the Liberty County Chamber of Commerce. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was led by a saying that she always lived by, which was “Only what you do for Christ will last”, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She departed this life quietly on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, GA.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband, her favorite person in the whole wide world (Dexter) and her two daughters: Monique (Demetrius) and Marquisha (Michael). Her 5 heart beats: Day’a (Pooda Wooda), Mayana (My Mayana aka My favorite grandchild..her words), Jeremyah (her daddy or Thurgood), Demetrius ( DJ)Her baby boy or Taeta), and Jernee (her Toot). Her father Nathaniel (Deddy), 3 sisters: Sharon (Monique) of New Haven, CT, Shelah (Quisha) of Greenbelt, MD, Anavah (Biscuit)(Danny) of Manchester, CT, and 1 brother Nathan (Lovey)(Yvette) of Windsor, CT, and gang of nieces, nephews, cousins, god children and close friends.
