Obituary

Henry James Wright was born October 19th, 1946 to the late Slater Dewitt Wright and Mary Jane Nunn Wright in Ludowici, Georgia.

Henry became a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church as a youth. He served there regularly alongside his parents and siblings. As he grew older he joined the US Army and quickly rose in rank, accomplishing several tours of service around the globe. But his most lengthy station was in Germany where he was based for many years. He would return home always eager to see his family.

During his Army career he serviced and operated locomotives. His passion for trains continued throughout his lifetime. Even having a model train and memorabilia in his home to share with family and friends. He also loved the Saxophone and played very well. After returning home from the Armed Forces, Henry began a family with the birth of his first daughter. Then he met Pearlie Mae Herrington and gained three more beautiful children. Being no stranger to hard work, he settled into a job at Western Auto for a number of years, also working security until he retired.

Henry refused to miss the news. He had to know what was happening with the weather and his surroundings. He will be truly missed for his storytelling, quick wit, family history keeping, and fast paced walk. Most of all he loved his family. He enjoyed talking on the phone, staying connected, not to mention he loved a good western show or an exciting episode of Maury. His favorite slogan, "Ain't worth a ham sandwich." will always be remembered and give us a chuckle when we think of him.

Henry leaves behind his wife, Gwendolyn Johnson.

To mourn his passing, he leaves his 4 children: Whitney (Domonique )Robinson, JenniferHerrington, Tammy Washington, James Herrington. 3 step children: Valerie, Carol, & Charles, all of GA. Grandchildren: DaVonte, Myron, Shannon, Janiah, Jayce, Kelise, Brielle, Journey, Carter, Evan, Tyshem, Jonathan, and Tyrese. Also many step grandchildren.

Sisters: Mary Ann Lyons and Louvella (Glen) Walker, both of  Indianapolis, IN. Brothers:  Ronald L.(Barbara)Wright, and Arthur W.(Michelle) Wright, both of Bowling Green, KY. Maternal Aunt: Betty Nunn, Bowling Green, KY. And a host of additional family and friends.

The Wright family would like to express their appreciation for the considerations, love, and kindnesses shown toward them during this difficult time. We are sure Henry is at rest and would be well pleased with the outpouring of love on his behalf. He was priceless to us and we are grateful to have shared time and space with him throughout our lives until we can again.
