Henry C. Baker Sr., 94, entered eternal rest on Monday, May 15, 2023 surrounded by his loving and devoted children.
He was born on November 19, 1928 to the late Herman Baker and Martha Mitchell Baker. He was a native of Hinesville, Georgia and was educated in the public schools of Liberty County.
He was a faithful and dedicated member of Bethel A.M.E. Church where he served on Steward Board, Trustee Board, Sons of Allen, Male Choir and Senior Gospel Choir. While serving on the Steward Board he served as Steward Board Pro Tem. He was honored to be inducted into the Sons of Allen Hall of Fame in 2017.
Henry worked many years as a Long-Distance Truck Driver with Wayneline, Inc. (Jesup, GA) and Builder’s Transport Inc. (Savannah, GA). While employed with Builder’s Transport he earned the “Million Miles Award” for safe driving over 1 million miles without an accident. He also served as a Driver; teaching and mentoring newly employed drivers’ effective ways of the road. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with family. He mostly singing, sporting events that included supporting his children & grandchildren and going to church.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 73 years Ethel Virginia Almeda Ogden Baker, his three sisters, Amanda Baker, Daisey Baker and Pauline Travis. Six brothers, Walter Baker, Herman Luther Baker, Jr., Willie Baker, Charles Baker, Roland baker and Harry Baker

Baker, Jr. (Lily) of Hinesville, Ronald Baker (Mildred) of Rex, GA, Darrell Baker (Ruby) of Hinesville, GA, Rhonda Faye Baker of Hinesville, GA, Willie C. Watkins (Tina) of Savannah, GA, and Herbert Singleton (Brenda) of Pooler, GA. Brother Oliver Baker (Rubye) of Brunswick, GA
Grandchildren Danny Derrick, Michael Derrick, Genese Baker Lane, Chandra Collier (Richard), Terrel Baker, Jabari Baker (Sable), Wanda Wims (Alfred), Chante Frazier (Corey), Gabriella Baker, Torrance Dolman (Nikkyler), Catawba Walton (Dexter), Chris Hines (Christi), Duriel Hines, Derrell Baker, Jr., Lamont Bennett (Kalisha), Lewis Richardson, Teresa Watkins-Bishop (James), Lawrence Watkins (April), Sean Watkins (Valeria), Ryan Watkins (Daysha), and Lora Janell Watkins, 23 Great Grandchildren, 2 Great Great-Grandchildren.
Isaiah 57: 1-2 (MSG) Meanwhile, right-living people die and no one gives them a thought. God-fearing people are carted off and no one even notices. The right-living people are out of their misery, they’re finally at rest. They lived well and with dignity and now they’re finally at peace.
