Mr. George Proctor Jr. age 91 departed this life on Wednesday January 5, 2022 at Memorial Health Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. He was born to the late George Proctor Sr. and Mary Etta King on August 21, 1930 in Taylor Creek, George. He was a wonderful father, grandfather, great grand father, brother, uncle, and loving friend. He had a wisdom that compel all to listen and he loved his family with the verb he always use to say to us. George started his education in Taylor Creek, Georgia at the age of 5 in 1935 at Taylor Creek Elementary. In 1941 he came to Brunswick, Georgia and he attended ARCO Elementary School and graduated and went on to Rigley High School in 1945. Then in 1950 George was drafted to the Army, and in 1951 was called to active duty causing him not to graduate with his class, so in 1952 he took the GED test he past to receive his diploma. While in the Military he received two years of college and another three at Miami Dade College years later. While in the Army 1952 he met a friend who taught him about the Stock Market (investing). He was in military 24 years of his life then he retired in 1975. George was a hard worker. His first job was at Dixie Paint Company& Vanish Company in 1945, Jackle Island Hotel in 1946, Jimmy Man Resturant in 1946-1948, and Hartman Tabaco Company in 1949. He became an Ordain Minister in 1949 and worked with Boy`s Youth Groups. He worked at Sears Westland Mall for 30 years and U.S. Coast Guard then he retired. In 1965 he met and married his wife Margaret Wilhelmina Cambridge to this union three children were born Cherry Proctor of
Hinesville, Georgia, Wilhelmina Proctor- McDaniel(Decease), Gwendolyn Louise Proctor(Decease). Those who knew George would say he was a wise, kind, and giving to all who were around him, and always had encouraging words for you. He served faithful at First Baptist Church in Bunche Park in Opa- Locka, Florida. George decided to move to Hinesville, Georgia and became a member of St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church where he served faithful until death. He leave to treasure and cherish his memories a daughter Cherry Proctor of Hinesville, Georgia, a brother-in- law Franklin Cambridge and a sister-in- law Ronae Cambridge of Miami, Florida. Five grand children George A. Proctor, Racheal Mc Daniel, Brillanta Smith, Rebecca McIntyre, Ivan McDaniel II, six great grands ; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, relatives and friends.
