Ervin attended school in Liberty County, Georgia and in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He became the most adventurous of his three siblings. His sights were set on traveling, and he began his quest for traveling by joining the United States Army. Ervin tours in the Army took him all over the world and during world conflicts. He served in the Green Beret, parachuted out of planes, and worked in the Intelligence Community. He served twice in Vietnam, and spent time in Korea and Germany. After serving his country for 30 years, he retired as a Master Sergeant. Following the Army, Ervin worked as an Armored Guard for Security Transport of monies and valuables, and he worked for 15 years as Chief of Supply for three Veterans Hospitals in Massachusetts. Throughout Ervin’s career (serving in the military or working at his civilian jobs), he always enjoyed entertaining people. He did this by being a recognized DJ. He was known as DJ Andy. He entertained by DJ’ing at weddings, social events, and military organization/ programs. Although music over the years has changed, his passion for people to enjoy and be amused in music and songs has always been a part of Ervin’s life. Ervin was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Brockton, Massachusetts. He was a Trustee and actively worked in the Video Ministry. Ervin was married to Margaret A. Andrews (Anderson) of Arkansas, and they have 4 daughters: Angelika Russell, LaToya Andrews, Lillian Brice, and Gold Andrews. He was most loving and proud of his 5 grandchildren (Laniya, Ciara, Bryson, Carter, and Savannah). He has a sister, Catherine Andrews, of Hinesville, Georgia.; sister, the late Electa Andrews, who preceded him in death; a brother, Isaac B. Andrews and his wife, Oveder, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Ervin was a kind, committed, and caring soul of ethical standards. He is celebrated today for his life as a husband, father, uncle, and member of the military in service to this country. Others of his family who celebrates his life because of his kind and generous spirit are: Devoted nieces and nephews: Deacon (RN) Deborah Andrews Dawson and her husband Lorenzo Dawson of Hinesville, Georgia and their family; Rear Admiral Annie Belle Andrews, U.S. Navy (Ret.) of Alexandria, VA and her family; and many other cherished relatives and friends.
