Eloise H. Rollins was born on July 2, 1949 to the late Arabella and Raymond Holmes. She was raised in a loving home. She was educated in the Liberty County School System. After the death of her mother, she along with her oldest son Richard relocated to Connecticut in 1970. She began working immediately to take care of her son. She worked at Gems Sensors in Plainville, Connecticut for many years.
While living in Connecticut, Sister Rollins was a member of Greater Grace Apostolic Church in Terryville, Connecticut. There she worked faithfully on the usher board, pastor’s aide, the Connecticut District Counsel, and as the Sunday School Secretary.
She married the late Bobby James Rollins in July 1991. There were no children born to this union. Her baby child, Taj Holmes who was born on October 22, 1974 went home to be with the Lord on March 2, 2021.
Sister Rollins moved back to Georgia in 2009 and joined Greater Zion Temple Holiness Church where she served as an usher, and the Church Anniversary Program Chairperson. Sister Rollins was a loving, kind hearted, giving, and feisty person. She was always willing to lend a helping hand.
She was preceded in death by her son: Taj Holmes, father: Deacon Raymond Holmes, Mother: Arabella Holmes, brothers: Raymond Jr., Clarence, Roy and Willie Lee Holmes and sisters: Agnes Pray, Arabella Gamble, and Oraline Roberts of Midway, Georgia.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her son: Richard (Heather, daughter-in-love) Holmes of Jacksonville, FL; sisters: Willie Mae of Bristol, CT, Ruby Miller, Rosa Holmes, who was also her loving and devoted caregiver, and Minerva (Chester) Barrett of Midway, GA; a special loving aunt: Julia Mae (Melvin) Robertson of Midway, GA; one brother-in-law: Frank Miller of Midway, GA; four grandchildren: David James Holmes of California, Richard J. Holmes and Taj E. Holmes of Jacksonville, FL, and Angela B. Holmes of Bristol, CT; three great grandchildren: Christian, Elijah, and Jeanessa of Bristol, CT; a special friend: Willie Walthour and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
