Elena Watson Simpson was born Elena Lamy Pierre to Lenoix Lamy and Alice Lamy Pierre on May 19, 1943 in Porto-Au- Prince, Haiti. She lost her mother at the age of three. Her father remarried and she was raised by her godparents. At the age of 23, she moved to Panama City, Pamana in search of a better life. Two years late, she purchased a home in Haiti. At the age of 26, she gave birth to her only child, Magdalena Vasquez Lamy. Eighteen months later, she met and married her husband, Rodolfo Watson Simpson. Their union blossomed for 38 years.
Elena migrated to Brooklyn, New York in 1983 and to Hinesville, Georgia in December 2006.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Rodolfo and her stepdaughter, Delia Maria McKay in 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Magdalena Lamy; her brothers, Rodolfo Watson Ramsey, Lyonel (Margaret) LaComb, Yves (Marie Guerda) Dely; her favorite nephew, Michelet (Emelis) Jeanty; her grandson, Alfredo (Susan) Clarke and her “ Daughter” Barbra (Kenneth) Williams, and Sabreen( Mustafa) Fountain, her “sons”:Larry (Zelinka) Randle, Loorn Cameron, Marc and Ritchie Anderson, and a host of family and friends.
