Eldoris Jackson, beloved mother and grandparent of Hinesville, Georgia, left this world on August 3, 2023, at the age of 90. Born on April 17, 1933, Eldoris was the loving daughter of Roland Taylor and Frances Cooper.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Ernest Jackson Jr. She is also preceded in death by brothers Al and Lee Fennell and sisters Ella Mims, Lucille Gates, Victoria Taylor, and Carmen Woodard.
Eldoris is survived by her children: William R Jackson (Doris) of Jesup, GA, Christy Jackson Collins (WJ) of Valrico, FL, Ernest Jackson III of Hinesville, and Roland Jackson (Maribel) of Valrico, FL. She is also survived by her brother, Charles Taylor of Savannah and brother-in-law Benjamin Johnson (Lottie) of Daytona Beach, FL. Eldoris leaves behind several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eldoris cherished her role as a mother and dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting her children. She was always a source of love, wisdom, and guidance to each of them, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Eldoris attended the Liberty County School System where she laid the foundation for her future endeavors. She worked for 24 years in the school system and retired as the food service supervisor at Jordye Bacon Elementary.
Eldoris Jackson will always be remembered for her unwavering love, compassion, and dedication to her family. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, resilience, and unwavering devotion. While her physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will forever linger in the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eldoris was a member of the First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Hinesville, where she faithfully served as Sunday School teacher, President of the Junior and Senior Usher Board, and Vice President of the Deaconess.
She had unwavering support for her favorite charities, the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Old Savannah City Mission. Flowers are welcome, but the family wishes any memorial contributions be made to the Old Savannah City Mission in memory of Eldoris.
Her favorite hobby was gardening, and she was known for the large variety of plants that she grew.
