Dee Clayton Quarterman, Sr.

Dee Clayton Quarterman Sr., 69, entered into eternal rest on May 17, 2021 at his home in Hinesville, surrounded by family.

Dee Clayton Quarterman Sr. was born March 22, 1952 to the late John C. and Eunice Quarterman.  November 14, 1975 he was joined in holy matrimony to Olivia L. Herrington, to their union was born 4 children. Sherry Senior, Dee Quarterman Jr., Maria Strayhorn, and Marvin Quarterman. He was a long time member of Baconton Missionary Baptist Church.  Dee attended Liberty County Public Schools.  He was a Vietnam Veteran of the United States Army, worked civil service on Fort Stewart, and Walmart Inc. as a maintenance Technician for several years before retiring.  In his earlier days he enjoyed working on cars for himself and others. One of Dee Clayton’s most favorite pass times was fishing which he shared with most of his family.  He would always say that “he was on the right route for the trout.” He enjoyed spending time with family especially his grandchildren, he liked to go and buy them a bunch of snack cakes and candy that he would give to them, wait for them to get hyper then he would go into his room and close his door, and listen to the noise.

Dee is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Maria Olivia Strayhorn, sister Jean Q. Moore, brothers Walter “Jimmy” and Henry Quarterman

Dee leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 45 years Olivia L. Quarterman, daughters Sherry Quarterman Senior and Daisy Bacon of Hinesville, GA. three sons Dee C Quarterman Jr. (Sonya), Marvin Quarterman, Emanual Herrington of Hinesville, GA. Seven sisters Joan Bellamy of Miami, FL; Nita Anderson (David), Janet Moore of Walthourville, GA.; Judith Wilson (Henry) of Hinesville, GA.; Lachanuse Geeston (Clayton) of VA; Gala Rolla (Marcel) of Killeen, TX; and foster sister Cynthia Martin of Walthourville, GA.  Four brothers: Nathaniel Quarterman of Augusta, GA.; John Quarterman of Miami, FL.; William Quarterman of Walthourville, GA., and James Quarterman of San Francisco, CA.  Sister in Laws: Laura Fraiser, Lorretta Bacon, Sally Dent (John), Louise McGee (Eugene), Carrie Dee (Robert) all of Walthourville, GA.  Earnestine Shepperson of Lynchburg, VA., and Mary Herring (Herman) of Deltona, FL.  Four brothers in laws: John Herrington (Susie), Jimmy Herrington (Christal), David Herrington, Dena Herrington all of Walthourville, GA. And eighteen grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
