Deacon Simon Hines III was born in Liberty County to the late Deacon and Deaconess Simon and Jessie Mae Hines. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Sadie and Helen Hines and one brother Melvin Hines.
Simon graduated from Liberty County High School in 1971. He was baptized at an early age at First Zion Baptist Church, where he served as a member of the deacon board. He was also a member of the male choir. Simon's spirit was faithfully dedicated to the service of the lord. He worked at Interstate Paper in Riceboro, Ga, and retired in 2014 after over 20 years of dedicated labor. He always carried himself admirably and was considered a wonderful role model for many.
