Craig Brown Obituary

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.” (John 14:27).

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.” (John 14:1).

Jacksonville, FL--Without warning, death plucked a flower from our garden on Saturday, October 23, 2021, and Brother Craig Jerome Brown Sr. was called from earth to heaven’s reward.  He was born on April 11, 1959, in Riceboro, GA to the late Addie Mae Brown and the late Jesse Alvin.  He was reared by his great-grand mother Agnes Brown with the aid of his grandparents Katie and Buster Hargrove Sr, all of whom preceded him in death, along with a community of aunts, uncles, and cousins. He joined First African Missionary Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Rev. Garfield Jackson.

Craig attended the public schools of Liberty County, GA.  As an adult, he was employed by the Chemical Plant (SNF) in Riceboro, GA.

On December 11, 1982, Craig and the love of his life, Laura, were joined together in holy matrimony.  To this union, three children were born: Keith, Craig Jr (deceased), and Roxanna.  The family later relocated to Jacksonville, FL.  After relocating, Craig began working at Merita Bread Co.  He served the company for many years until his health began to fail.

Bro. Brown loved worshipping and serving the Lord.  In June 2013, he joined Spirit of Truth Deliverance Ministry under the guidance of the late Dr. Kenneth A. Brown.  Craig faithfully served his church until he was called home to be with the Lord. He had love in his heart for everyone.

Craig leaves to cherish his memory, a loving wife of 39 years, Laura Bacon-Brown; a son, Keith Bacon (Valencia); a daughter, Roxanna L. Brown; and three sisters:  Norma Jean Alvin, Regina Alvin, and Renee Alvin. Four brothers: Leroy “Charlie Lee” Brown, Henry Lee Brown, Derrell Brown, Terry Oliver; an honorary brother: Jimmie “Bubba” Crews; aunts and uncles: Dr. Dorothy H. Roundtree, Dr. Matilda F. Riles, Geneva Cunningham, Barbara Holmes, Doris Hargrove, Anna Bell Stewart, Evangelist Mary Stewart; four uncles: Wallace Howard, Elder Willie James Stewart, Jacob Stewart, Col. Warren Riles (Ret.); brothers-in-law: David Bacon, Henry Bacon, Michael Bacon, John Roberts, Leroy Morton, Warren Bacon; and sisters-in-law: Gloria Roberts, Jerolene Brown, Vivian Morton. Craig will always hold a special place in the hearts of his nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and friends.
