Legacy of Life
Mr. Coulter Joe Louis Green Jr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at his residents inHinesville, Georgia surrounded by his loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy.
Mr. Coulter Joe Louis Green Jr, also known by many that loved him as Coley or Joe was born May 2, 1941, Bishopville, South Carolina to the late Coulter JL Green Sr. and Carry Isaac Green. Coulter was education in theSumter County public school system and was a graduate of Lincoln High School class of 1961, immediatelyafter high school, Coulter was awarded a scholarship to attended Morris College in Sumter South Carolina wherehe played football and majored in physical education. In 1963 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and later married the love of his life Bertha Mae Dingle Green of Sumter South Carolina. Their union was blessed with five wonderful loving children.
Coulter served in the U. S. Army for 26 years, retiring at the rank of First Sergeant (1SG). He served in the Vietnam War, Korea, German, and Honduras. He held a host of leadership position throughout his U. S. Army career, always leading from the front. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal 3 oak leaf cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Republic of Vietnam campaign Medal, NCO Development Ribbon, Over Seas Ribbon, Airborne Wings, Combat InfantryBadge, and Expert Infantry Badge. After retiring from the U.S. Army, he was employed by Georgia Pacific as Chief of Security servicing for 20 years until full retirement.
Coulter leaves to celebrate his memory, a loving dedicated wife of 60 years, Bertha Mae Green from Sumter, South Carolina. Coulters children; Mabel (Denise) Veal, Coulter (Simona) (Vincent) Green, Marvel (Albert) M.Slaughter, Kimberly (Shaffer) A. Clark, and Christopher R. Green. His grandchildren; Brandon RichardsonCoulter Green Jr., Eriell Miller, Destiney Veal, Brandi Slaughter, Karri Green, Randy Veal Jr., Shaffer Clark IV, Jacob Green, Kamiyah Hollyfield, Kayla Hollyfield and Kylee Hollyfield and a host of other family and friends.
