Alice Clark Obituary

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.  He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.  He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.  Psalms 23:1-3

Alice Cornelia Berry Clark was born to the late Robert Lee and Phylis Fagan Berry on April 27, 1951.  On Monday, May 23, 2022, she answered our heavenly father’s call to eternal rest.

At an early age, she became a member of First African Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Garfield Jackson.  She also received tutelage from the church mothers who were instrumental in establishing the Christian fundamentals and an unquenchable desire for the word and will of God.

Alice attended the public schools in Liberty County.  She pursued her college degree at Continental School of Beauty in Rochester, NY and earned her cosmetology and barber licenses to serve a very diverse clientele in the area.  She had many talents that included being a city bus driver for many years for the Rochester Transit Service.

She was married in holy matrimony to Leon Clark, and they provided unconditional love, spiritual guidance, and uncommon wisdom to four wonderful children.

She was a loving and kind spirited person who never met a stranger.  She loved people with every fiber of her being.  She also had a special love for all kinds of flowers and gave them names that suited their specific qualities or previous owners.  She enjoyed watching them grow from seedlings to full mature plants that not only provided beauty but also overwhelming joy.

Alice was preceded in death by three brothers:  Mack Fagan, Jerome Berry, and Robert Berry, Jr.

Her memories will always be cherished by her devoted husband, Leon Clark; four children:  Andrea (Charles) Gordon of Allenhurst, GA; Jesse Scott of Baltimore, MD; Michael (Marci) Scott of Atlanta, GA; Robert (Varonica) Scott of Stockbridge, GA; two sisters: Matilda (Warren) Riles of Midway, GA and Emma (Lewis) Lowder of Riceboro, GA; one brother, George (Amalia) Berry of Lawrenceville, GA; eleven sisters-in-law: Hattie King, Zondra Green, Kenitra Green, Freda (Mike) Clark, and Theresa Lynn Pointsett all of Richmond Hill, GA; Valerie Jackson of Macon, GA; Carolyn Mobley, Sylvia Demery, Kimberly (Alvin) Jenkins, and Lavonya Green all of Savannah, GA; and Dorothy (Phillip) Jackson of Brunswick, GA; five brothers-in-law: Calvin (Leah) Fulwood of Atlanta, GA; Leo Morgan and Levi (Delores) Morgan both of Fleming, GA; Marlon Houston of Savannah, GA; and Byron Green of Ft. Meyers, FL; a father-in-law, Henry (Jeannette) Green of Savannah, GA; two aunts: Doris (Albert) Frasier and Lula Belle Fagan both of Jacksonville, FL; ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
