William Winston Holmes was born on June 26, 1958, to Ada B. Holmes and the late William S. Holmes in Midway, GA. Winston departed this life on October 28, 2022. He was the oldest of five children.

Winston received his education in the Liberty County School System. He graduated from Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, GA. and furthered his education at Savannah State University in Savannah, GA until he enlisted in the United States Army. He traveled the world while in the military. After his time in the military he moved to Philadelphia, PA.
He worked in culinary arts as a leader at Hymies Restaurant, in Philadelphia, PA. He was employed by the Northeast Wastewater Treatment Plant, in Philadelphia, PA., as a water operations repair helper.

Winston was loving, kind, thoughtful and had a great love for people. He will be missed by many. He was known and loved by many people. He never met a stranger.

He was proceeded in death by maternal grandfather Charles Butler; maternal grandmother Julia (Pink) Butler, paternal grandfather John Holmes and paternal grandmother Albertha (Missy) Holmes.

He married Floscelia (Peaches) Holmes of Philadelphia in 1990. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving companion, Gladys Jackson of Philadelphia, PA; mother, Ada B. Holmes; one son, Royce Holmes of Forth Worth, TX; four brothers, Gregory M.(Semona) Holmes of Brunswick, GA; Samuel (Jeanette) Holmes of Midway, GA; Shawn O. (Lakisha) Holmes of Port Orange, FL; Jimmy Harley (Andrina) of Richmond Hill, GA; Tyreik K. Holmes of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Pastor Patricia (late Michael) Jordan of Pensacola, FL; two uncles, Lomax Butler of Philadelphia, PA; John Henry (Hick) Holmes of Midway, GA; three aunts, Julia Philpot of Philadelphia, PA; Rose (Nate) Kennedy of Chesapeake, VA; Emma Grant of Midway, GA; A host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other family and friends
