Obituary

The staff of Dorchester Funeral Home would like to express our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Thomas Leroy Bell. All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.& He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Sowe fall asleep in Jesus. We have played long enough at the games of life, and at last we feel the approach of death. We are tired out, and we lay our head back on the bosom of Christ and quietly fall asleep."

Thomas was born on January 19, 1961, in Union, Mississippi to Jessie (Jack) & Marie Bell who preceded him in eternal rest. On Tuesday, August 17,2021,God called Thomas home from labor to reward.

He accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Union, Mississippi under the leadership of the Late Reverend D. L. Wash. Thomas attended school at Union High School and graduated in 1980.

Shortly after his graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably and faithfully for 8 years as a Personnel Administration Specialist. With Fort Stewart being his final duty station, he made his home here in Hinesville and began his career working at Memorial Health and then later accepted a position as the Administrative Manager of the Department of Radiology for Winn Amy Community Hospital. Thomas was deeply loved, respected, and honored by those who had the pleasure of working with him. A great asset to his department, Thomas was known for his reliability, attention to detail and low tolerance for sloppy work ethics.

He attended services at the Fort Stewart Chapel where he served in many capacities and sang in the choir there for over 30 years. Thomas could hold his own tenor notepretty well. He also participated in the Gospel Music Workshops of America and National Convention of Gospel Choirs and Choruses, Int. fora number ofyears and always looked forward to their annual conventions.

Thomas was also well known by many community churches. He truly loved himself some good preaching, good singing and just simply said….some"good church". If Thomas was informed of a good church program, youcould expect to see him pull up along with his traveling buddy and close friend, Evangelist Wilma Gregg.

Thomas was also known for his witty personality, infectious smile, impeccable style and taste and his love for entertaining. He greatly enjoyed good company and when he was in the mood, he could put together anabsolutely unforgettabledinner party.
