Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Teryl Latrese Hayes, of
Hinesville, Georgia, who departed this life on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in Jacksonville,
Florida at the age of 50.
Teryl was born on October 27, 1974, to Mary J. Vickers and Milton Hayes in Orlando,
Florida. She was preceded in death by her dear grandmother, Azzie Lee Vickers and uncle,
Bobby Vickers.
She received her education in Miami, Florida, attending schools such as: Dunbar
Elementary, Charles R. Drew Junior High, and Miami Northwestern High School. Teryl had
an incredible work ethic and pursued multiple professions throughout her life. She worked
as a bus driver in Fairbanks, Alaska, and Hinesville, Georgia, and held other positions in
waste management and as a US postal worker. Whatever she set her mind to, she
accomplished with boldness and determination.
Teryl was a devoted and loving mother to her three sons, whom she cherished with all her
heart. She is survived by her three sons: Travis, Trayvon, and Tony Phillips of Hinesville,
Georgia; her mother, Mary J. Vickers of Miami, Florida; her father, Milton Hayes of Orlando,
Florida; her sisters, Marquita Vickers of Miami, Florida, Raveena Andrews of Miami, Florida;
her brother, Larry Allen of Miami, Florida, her brother, Christensen Velez of Miami, Florida;
her aunts, Frances Washington of Miami, Florida, Janet Lewis of Miami, Florida, and
Daphne Vickers of Orlando, Florida; uncles, Charles and Tony Vickers, and a host of other
loving siblings, family members, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that we
acknowledge, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.
Though Teryl's sudden passing has left a void in our hearts and lives, the love she gave and
the impact she made will never fade. Her laughter, strength, and unwavering devotion to
her family remain etched in our hearts. While we grieve the loss of her physical presence,
we find comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold. Teryl
was a light in the lives of those who knew her, and though that light now shines from above,
its warmth will continue to guide us. Rest peacefully, Teryl—Until we meet again, you will
remain in our hearts, cherished and deeply missed.
The family appreciates all the prayers, love, and support during this very difficult time.
