Brother Terry Lynn Murdaugh, Sr. son of the late Joe Floyd Murdaugh and Daisy Bell Ayers was born October 11,1959, in Ashton, SC. Brother Murdaugh entered into eternal rest on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Community Hospice in Vidalia, GA.
Terry received his education in the public schools of Colleton County, SC. He graduated from Ruffin High School in 1977. In 1977, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served faithfully for 22.5 years and retired in 1999 with Rank of Sergeant First Class. His tours of duty included Alaska, California, Georgia, Germany, Haiti, Korea and North Carolina. Upon retirement from the Army, Terry worked forUniFirst, L-3 Communications, Eagle Group, and Lockheed Martin.
Terry accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age at McCune Branch Baptist Church in Lodge, SC. He continued to serve faithfully in the communities where he lived. He attended Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Fayetteville, NC. He served on the Usher Ministry, Transportation Ministry, Trustee Ministry and Layman Ministry at First Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Hinesville, GA, and was a member of Abundant Life Worship Center in Hinesville, GA.
On September 28, 1989, Terry was joined in holy matrimony to Brenda Thomas. To this union, they were blessed with two sons.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Daisy Murdaugh and a sister Evelyn Bowers. Terry leaves to mourn his passing his loving and devoted wife, Brenda Thomas Murdaugh of the home; sons, Terry Murdaugh, Jr., Hinesville, GA, Brandon Murdaugh and Steven Meeks, Atlanta, GA; one granddaughter, Aryanna Murdaugh, Midway, GA; three brothers, Pastor Floyd (Helen) Murdaugh and Kelvin Murdaugh, Columbia, SC and Gerard (Lisa) Murdaugh, Stone Mountain, GA; one sister,ZettyMurdaugh Glenn, Orangeburg, SC; five aunts, Erma Holloway, Daisy (Donald) Clark, DorothySeymore,LearleneMurdaugh andMellouiseMurdaugh and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation: Saturday, January 29, 2022, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Dorchester Funeral Home.
Funeral: Sunday, January 30, 2022, 4:00 p.m., Dorchester Funeral Home.
Interment: Georgia Veterans' Memorial Cemetery.
