Wright
February 23, 1941 – October 18, 2022
Retired SFC Alphonso Wright was born in Savannah, Georgia on February 23, 1941 to the late Alfonso Wright and Ernestine Johnson Wright.&
He received his early education in the Savannah Chatham County School System, graduating from Beach High School in Savannah, Georgia in 1960. He attended Savannah State University for 1 year and 1 quarter on Band Scholarship before enlisting in the United States Army. Retired SFC Alphonso Wright was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the US Army in 1982 after serving 20 years. He served in the US Army Band.
After retirement Alphonso Wright started his own business, Wright's Painting and Home Improvement, Inc. as a General Contractor. He also owned a fish market, Wright's Seafood and a trailer park, A&D Trailer Park. He loved to go fishing, to garden and he played a number of instruments with his primary instrument being the trombone.
Alphonso Wright was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Temple in Hinesville, Georgia, Pastor Lucille Smiley Bomar. He sang in the Choir Ministry, worked with Vacation Bible School, and managed the Food Bank Ministry.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories; his loving wife, Dorothy Loadholt Wright of Hinesville, GA; his daughter, Pamela Denise Wright of Hinesville, GA; his son, Kenneth Wendell Wright (Phary) of Hinesville, GA; two grandsons, Petty Officer 2nd-Class Kenneth Garrett Wright of Naval Base Kitsap, Bangor, WA and Kenneth Kenan Wright of Hinesville, GA; one granddaughter, Malin Ran Wright of Hinesville, GA; one brother, Leviticus Wright (Rosezell) of Pawleys Island, SC; three sisters, Rosemary Zellner of Fayetteville, NC, Gloria Boyd (Matthew) of College Park, GA, Linda Bush of Savannah, GA; two sister-in-laws, Betty Loadholt of Baton Rouge, LA, Geraldine Williams (Michael) of Hinesville, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
