Sarah L. Izzard, wife of the late Deacon Leroy H. Izzard Jr. and daughter of&the lateRev S.S. Stewardand Ella Fair Steward, wasa residentand citizen of Liberty County, GA her entire life.Extraordinarily gifted,her life would transcend normal circumstance andinevitably be a blessing to herfamily and her community.
Sarah was a member ofthe Liberty County High Schoolgraduating class of 1962.Her passion and desire to navigatelife through a prism of calculations and equationsled her to attend Savannah State College and later becomean employee of Interstate Paper Cooperation in Riceboro,for 44 years.Heranalytical skill and attention to detail servedherwell professionally, socially, and spiritually.
At theage of six she began to play the piano under the instruction of her father.Witnessing what he describes as"special", heplaced her in the capable hands of Ms. Deborah Robinsonand her musical gift blossomed into what many haveconsidered unparalleled.At the age ofnineshe began toserve multiple churchesas a musician and choir director.Over a66-yearspan,she simultaneouslyserved First Zion Baptist Church, Pleasant Grove AMEChurch and, Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Churchas the musician and choir director. AtMount Olive Missionary Baptist Church she also servedas churchClerk for 3 decades.Throughout her life she was called on tosharehermusical gift in several settingswhich includesweddings.funerals, special events,banquets,andsocial events.She has been honoredbymultiplechurches throughout LibertyCounty and the state of Georgia.
Immenselybeloved byfamily and friends, Sarah had asincere affection and devotion to her choir members and Liberty County High Schoolclassmates.Herhighest priority was always her service to God andmankind. Her ability to sustain a Christian character throughout all seasons of life would serve her wellwhen her lifebegan to transition to an eternal destination.
Sarahwas preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Leroy H. Izzard Jr., her parents Solomon and Ella Steward, her sister Annie Belle Lawson,her daughterTreva D. Izzardand greatgrandsonZyirWashington.
She will forever be loved andremembered by her two sons Mr.TerrellLeRoy Izzardof Terrell,TXand Dr. Leroy H. Izzard III (Sonya)of Kernersville, NC.She is also survived by grandchildren:Whitneyof Greensboro NC, Kaylaof Greensboro NC,TylerofWinston Salem NC, RyanofKernersville NC,QuincyofAugusta GA, Chelseaof Kernersville,NC,andAaronof Fort Sill, OK, andgreatgrandchildren:Kynnedy"Kynn", Preston,,Elijah "Boogie",Isaiah "Zay"andKaydenon theway.Her nephew,Mr. Willie C.
