On the evening of May 5, 2024 at his home in Hinesville, Georgia, Dr. Russell McCaskill Dandy, age 53, shed his earthly suit and departed to start his eternal life. He entered this world along with his twin brother Dr. Ronald Dandy on December 3, 1970 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Russell was raised in Savannah, Georgia where he graduated from Benedictine High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science in Chemistry from Xavier University followed by a Medical Doctorate degree from The Medical College of Georgia. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University Medical Center/Oschner in New Orleans followed by a glaucoma fellowship at Louisiana State University Medical Center. Russell and his brother Ronald started their own ophthalmology practice, Chatham Eye Associates where they provided complete eye care. He was a well-respected physician in the community and mad an impact in his field of practice and will be surely missed by his patients. Russell was known for his intelligence, humor and generosity. He was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his children. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching sporting events, fishing and was an exceptional cook who was superb at smoking and grilling meats and preparing seafood. He was often told he should sell the food he prepared and his reply would be, "people enjoying what I cook is payment enough". He was passionate about his hobbies and shared his skills with those around him, especially his children.

Dr. Russell Dandy was the beloved husband of Zorana Dandy, cherished father to Zia Sifford and Russell McCaskill Dandy Jr. and loving grandfather to Brayden Von Brown. He is survived by his mother Dr. Evelyn Baker Dandy, his siblings Ronlyn Dandy and Dr. Ronald McCaskill Dandy and extended family. Russell was preceded in death by his father James Alphonso Dandy.

Services to honor and remember Dr. Russell Dandy will be held at Dorchester Funeral Home in Midway, Georgia. Russell will be deeply missed and his memory cherished by all who knew him.
