Ruby was born Saturday June 11,1932, In Randolph County, Georgia. She was raised by her grandmother because her mother transitioned when she was an infant. After her grandmother's passing, Ruby was admitted to Central State Hospital in 1959 because there was no family who could provide for her condition.  Ruby was later admitted to the Midway Nursing Home in May of 1981. It was here, at this nursing home where strangers became friends, and friends became family.

Ruby enjoyed having her baby doll and listening to music. Through the love, nurture and care of the nursing staff she lived at this facility for 44 years. Ruby had become the epitome of a long term resident, because she was truly at home.

Ruby Lee West took final breath on this side of heaven on Sunday, July 06, 2025 at Magnolia Manor of Midway surrounded by caregivers who had come to love her like family. She is now over in Zion, her new home, with her new body, screaming victory.
