Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Roxie Winn, who peacefully departed this world on October 31, 2026, at her cherished home. Born on February 2, 1952, in Hinesville, Roxie was the cherished daughter of Rufus and Maude Holmes.

Roxie's journey in life was beautifully intertwined with love and family. On March 9, 1968, she married her soulmate, John Henry Winn, in Ludowici, Georgia. Together, they shared 28 wonderful years, raising their children in a home filled with laughter and love. Though John preceded her in death, along with her sons Samuel (Holmes) and Tyrone Winn, and brothers Rufus Jr. and Robert Lee Holmes, their spirits remain forever in her heart.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Gregory Holmes and Johnnie Winn, whose lives continue to be a testament to her nurturing spirit. Roxie's legacy of love extends to her treasured granddaughter, Christine, and her husband, Howard Craig, as well as her three great-grandchildren, Myleah, Howard III, and Harmoni Craig, who brought immense joy and pride to her life.

A graduate of Liberty County High School, Roxie briefly contributed her talents to the Liberty County School system, where her warm smile and welcoming nature left a lasting impression. Her kindness and generosity touched countless lives, and she was known for her genuine ability to make everyone feel valued.

Roxie's faith was an integral part of her life. She was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church before joining Bacton Missionary Baptist Church in 2021, where she found great solace and community.

A celebration of Roxie's life will take place on November 7, 2026, at 3:00 PM at The Dorchester Funeral Home, located at 7842 E. Oglethorpe Hwy, Midway, GA 31320. The family invites all whose lives were touched by Roxie to join them in honoring her remarkable life and legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, a tribute befitting Roxie's generous spirit.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their prayers and acts of kindness during this time of grief. Special thanks are also due to the compassionate staff at Dorchester Funeral Home for their unwavering support and service.

Roxie Winn will be remembered as a beacon of light and love, whose spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
