Rose Ella was born on July 15,1933,in McIntosh, Georgia; referred to now as Midway, Georgia. Rose Ella attendedLiberty CountyTraining,where she graduated prior to moving to New York City, New York.She resided in Brooklyn, New Yorkwhere she met and fell in love with James Arthur Bates, Jr. who resided in Hartford, Connecticut. They were married on Valentine's Day (February 14th) and their union lastedforover fifty-One (51) years until his deathin 2010.



Rose Ellachose asimplelife of solitude after the death of her spouse. However, shedid enjoy occasional visits from her children and grandchildrenand great-grandchildren. As well as hearing all about their manyadventures and activities through pictures and video.


Rose Ella raised four children, Patricia Iona Longmore (deceased); Gloria G. Richardson; Yasmin Sharif; and William James Bates (deceased, lovingly referred to as "My Only Son"). Shewasalso a grandmother to eighteen (18) grandchildren.

Yasmin's children: Jemel Issac Bates;Muhammad Alim Sharif; Siddiq Alim Sharif; Chaka Shakur Sharif; Khalill Malik Brown; NHandi LyAllah Nur Brown.



Rose EllaalsoleavesbehindKermit Richardson, Jr. who she always affectionately referred to as"My Favorite Son-In-Law."She would often say "Thank God forJulius, and Little Juliusand her favorite niece Sharon Richardsonwhowerealways there for her.Also, a host ofnieces, nephews and great-grandchildrentoo numerous to mention all their names.She Loved You All.


Rose Ella also leaves behind heradoringtwinsisters, Beulah Sanders and Lula Godbolt; and herBelovedyoungest brother James "CHAMP" Gaulden, herPersonal Champion.



Personal Notes


Our Mother had a uniquesense of humor that only a select few who know her personally had the privilege to experience. She was also an accomplished pianist(who,according toourgrandmother, Lillie Belle Gaulden)withsuch a love for her craft that sheadvanced far beyond her teacher's ability.Her favoritegospel artist was the Legendary James Cleveland.Herfavorite colors were blue and purple. And lastly, her favorite flower was the "ROSE."
