Obituary

Robert "West" Bellamy, Sr. was born on September 10, 1968 in Long Beach, New York to Arlena Bellamy and the late Randolph Bellamy, Sr. After graduating from Long Beach High School in 1986, Robert welcomed his first son, Robert Bellamy, Jr. and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving almost three years.


Robert reenlisted in the Army in 2007, and during both tours, he earned a number of commendations, ribbons, medals, stars, and badges including the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, the National Defense Service Medal, the Sharpshooter Badge with Hand Grenade Bar, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and two Overseas Service Ribbons. After completing his second tour in 2010, Robert settled into civilian life until he became disabled.


Robert met the love of his life, Marilyn Selene Gibson, and embraced Marilyn's son, Horace Anthony Anderson, Jr. as his own. Robert and Marilyn shared three beautiful children - Shonda Shaquasia Bellamy, Roberta Evelyn Bellamy, and Jahmel Derrick Bellamy. Robert enjoyed shooting pool and traveling and had the greatest affinity for the Pittsburgh Steelers. A great amount of his time was spent loving and spoiling his 13 grandchildren.


Robert was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Bellamy, Sr. and two brothers, David and Jeffrey Bellamy.


Robert leaves to celebrate his life his loving wife; Marilyn; his mother: Arlena Bellamy; five children; 13 grandchildren; three brothers: Thomas Taylor (Tommie-Lee) of Livingston, AL, James Bellamy of Twenty-nine Palms, CA, and Randolph Bellamy, Jr. of Lawrenceville, GA; two sisters: Shirley McAboy (Eddie) of Cuba, AL and Dorothy Bellamy of Orlando, FL;
father-in-law: Benard Gibson of Memphis, TN; two sisters-in-law: Tracie Gibson of Memphis, TN and Natasha Simmons of Jackson, MS; godson: Daryl Allen, Jr.; special nephew: Tyrell Jones; childhood best friend: Howard Henderson, Sr. and a host of beloved family and friends.
