Sheriff Eddie Lewis Jones
February 8, 1945 – September 25, 2024
Mr. Eddie Lewis Jones, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born and raised in Laurel, Mississippi, to the late Pearlie Marsh Jones, where he attended Laurel High School and graduated in 1963. He exemplified dedication and service throughout his life, beginning with his 26 years in the United States Army, where he proudly served his country with honor and commitment.
After retiring from the military as a Vietnam War Veteran and MSG, Eddie continued his legacy of service by joining the Chatham County Sheriff's Department, followed by the Liberty County Sheriff's Department. He retired from both, leaving a legacy of integrity and a profound impact on the communities he served.
Eddie was known for his kindness, strength, and unwavering support for his family and friends. He was a man of principle who enjoyed sharing stories of his adventures and experiences, always with a twinkle in his eye and a hearty laugh.He departed this life on September 25, 2024, in the comfort of his home and is survived by his wife of 43 years, Emma J. Jones; son, Leonard Hall (Alisia); daughters: Michelle Hall of Colonial Heights, VA, Tramaine Hall of Hinesville, GA, and Krystal Jones-Parks (Terrell) of Ludowici, GA; brother, Robert Clark, Sr. (Sharon) of Laurel, MS; niece, Tina Taylor of Laurel, MS; nephews: Robert Clark, Jr. and Johnny Clark of Laurel, MS; mother-in-law, Irene Sparks; brothers-in-law: Leonard Sparks, Terry Sparks, Tyrone Sparks, Darryle Sparks; sisters-in-law: Cheval Jones and Francesca Sparks; grandchildren: Kierra Hall, Koria Jones, E'Ben Thomas, Jamison Thomas, Jr., Aaliyah Hall, Christopher Hall, Desmond Hall, Jaceyon Parks, Milik Wallace, Demetria Jackson, and Drew Chaney; three great-grandchildren; best friend, Ted Bryant; and associates: who will forever cherish his memory.
He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
