Elder Nathaniel Matthew Williams, Sr. was born on March 18, 1942 to the late Lawrence Williams and Arleane Williams in McIntosh. Nathaniel attended the Liberty County Public School System. He was a member of Solomon Temple Church of Christ under the leadership of Elder James Brown and Elder Horace (Rockie) Oliver. Elder Williams was an ordained minister for many years.

Nathaniel was joined in holy matrimony to Lou Ethel Roberts August of 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. To this union five children were born. Daughter, Brennet Bacon, preceded him in death.

Nathaniel was a contract carpenter. His favorite song was "Walk Around Heaven". He enjoyed cookouts and being around family. His biggest request during his illness was to have all of his children at his bedside for Father's Day and that was granted.

He leaves to cherish his memory one brother: Leon Williams (Mary) of Midway, GA; three sons: Rodney (Janie) Roberts of Midway, GA, Michael (Sara) Roberts of Fernandina Beach, FL and Nathaniel Williams, Jr. of Polk County, FL; six daughters: Valarie (Eddie) Holland of Riceboro, GA, Roberta Gale (David) Dooley of Winstonville, MS, Audrey (Derrell) Gaulden of Hinesville, GA, Angela (Danny) Stephens of Cookville, TN and Etwendal (Edward) Bennett of Riceboro, GA; one special cousin: Maggie Nullin of Jacksonville, FL; his companion of over 30 years: Wilhemina Smith of Midway, GA; children he reared: Andrew Williams, Morris Williams, Famyka Brown, Shauntell Smith, Roshawn Smith and Aloni Smith; 32 grandchildren; 54 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
