Our dearly beloved Mother gained her wings on January 11, 2025.
Mother Lena Mae Scott Rawls was born on February 1, 1947 on Broad Level of Ludowici, Georgia. She was one of four children born to Louise Williams Everett. Lena Mae was raised by her adopted mother and father Rev. Marcus Allen Scott and Lena Roundtree Scott.
Mother Rawls accepted Christ and received her early Christian education under the leadership of her father, Rev. Scott and Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. During her life's journey she always remained steadfast in the Christian faith. Later in life Mother Rawls joined the Mt. Zion Outreach Ministries.
Lena was a graduate of Walker High School in Ludowici, GA. She served in many organizations to include the Walker Alumni Association, the Usher Board, and the Voter Poll Board. She was also a community leader, a foster parent, participated in the civil rights fight with Martin Luther King, Jr. by working with the SCLC, VP of the Union, and volunteered at the ARC for many years. She was a well known entrepreneur in the community. She had a love of caring for others and opened a personal care home, Whispering Pines.
She had a ministry of food and was a blessing to the community. She was a gifted cook and baker known throughout the community for her warmth and generosity. She ensured that no one went hungry, always opening her home and her heart to those in need. Her meals were a source of comfort, love, and nourishment, leaving a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of sharing them.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Rawls, biological parents Louise Williams Everett and Primus Frazier, Jr. and her adopted parents Rev. Marcus and Lena Scott. Also preceding her in death were two sons, Marcus Van Eric Scott and Harry Bernard Lee and siblings, Allen Scott, Grace Baker, Obediah Scott, Lewis Scott, Marcus Scott III, James Scott, and Victoria Nephew.
Mother Lena leaves to cherish her memories son: George (Estelle) Hunter; daughter: Kenya Rawls Levy; brothers: James Stokes, James Frazier, Albert (Martha) Parker; sister: Dorothy Randolph; grandchildren: Ember B. (Tammi) Hunter, Lanarius G. (Shelby) Hunter, Precious C. C. Hunter, Tish Johnson, Ricky D. Rand, Zykerria Lee, Vashon L. Watson, Jr., Noah L. Johnson, Khloe S. Levy and Kennedy J. Levy; great grandchildren: McKinley Rand, D'Angelo Rand, Lennox P. Hunter, Chantelle L. Youmans, Je'Seria B. Youmans, Je'Niyah B. Youmans, Eli'lil Williams, Ivan Morgan and Javan Morgan; step grandchildren: Katherine (Kevin) Thomas, Andres' Shellman, Yasmin Shellman and numerous foster children. She will be missed by two aunts: Eileen Frazier and Zephyrie Farlow; special cousins: Joyce Berry, Adolphus Farlow, and Gwen Walker; special nieces: McClary Scott Baker, Carmen Lawrence, Angela Lawrence Crumbley, and Julie Crittenden; special nephews: Danarius Rashod Tell and Azariah B. Israel, great niece: Na'reona Scott as well as a host of other cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
