Mother Alfreda Mae Houston Williams, beloved mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother; friend to many, passed away to be with Jesus on April 29, 2024. She was 90 years old.

Mother Alfreda Mae Houston Williams was born on July 25, 1933 in Liberty County, Georgia to the late Beatrice Bacon Houston and Isaiah Houston. She was raised in Long Reach Community in Riceboro, Georgia. At an early age, she gave her life to Jesus Christ and became a beacon of light by introducing and sharing his saving power with siblings, family, and community.


Mother Alfreda Williams attended school in Liberty County. She received certificates of completion from several Bible Institutes. She loved to read and learn. She was very creative. She was a hard worker as well. Some of the jobs she held included substitute teaching, seamstress, and cook. She was a Sunday School Superintendent, Missionary, Evangelist, Prayer warrior, National General Mother, a mentor and so much more.


On January 10, 1954, she married Elder Johnnie B. Williams. She was the mother of 13 children. They were married 46 years before he preceded her in death. Both worked in the ministry together pastoring and pioneering works. She was a helpful, supportive pastor's wife who assisted in multiple capacities of the church.


Often she and her husband visited the nursing homes as well as the sick and shut-in. God worked many signs, wonders, and miracles through Evangelist Mother Alfreda Williams as she helped in street meetings, tent meetings, and house prayer bands to name a few. In town, she was known as the Holy Ghost woman to go to for prayer; she welcomed everyone!


Many shared their healing testimonies, and how they came to Christ because of Mother Williams. Everyone talked of her loving and compassionate spirit for all people. She was a mother who taught her children how to pray and love God. The family had weekly family
devotions. She fed and clothed those in need.She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and writing songs. A few songs she wrote were "O You Can't Get To Heaven Without S-A-L-V-A-T-I-O-N", "Everybody Ought To Go To Sunday School", and "Sunday School Is Marching On". She loved to write, sing, read, and pray. She could always be heard singing around the house and praying throughout the day.


Mother Alfreda's ministry extended across Wilmington, Delaware; Dover, Delaware; Virginia; and Clearwater, Florida, where she helped pioneer ministries. She actively served in variouschurches including The Church of Christ Holiness Unto the Lord, Inc. She helped in the
ministries of her children:Resurrection Life Christian Fellowship, Jacksonville, Florida; Grace Deliverance Inc, Hagan, Georgia; Freedom of Praise, Hinesville, Georgia; and Last Days Christian Community Center, Tacoma, Washington.


Her husband, Pastor Johnnie B. Williams, Sr. and her son, Pastor Harry Houston, preceded her in death. She leaves to cherish her memories: Prophetess Gwinnett (Pastor Harry) Houston; Mathis (Minnie) Williams; Dr. Evangelist Julie Hagan; Pastor Odell (Yvonne) Williams; Apostle James Williams; Missionary Alfreda (Minister Nathaniel) Golden; Deacon Paul (Alvida) Williams; Minister Angela (Minister Eric) Russell; Archie (Merlin) Williams; Teacher Evon Roberts; Minister Timothy Williams; Prophet Ezekiel (Janice) Williams; and Elder Earnest (Aletta) Williams.


Two siblings preceded her in death: Beatrice Bacon and Lucille Houston Rufus.


Surviving Siblings: Bishop Isaiah Houston, Bishop Rufus Houston, Bishop Abel Houston, Deacon William (Mary) Houston, Minister Jimmie (Susie) Houston, and Prophetess Juanita Bryant. Adopted siblings: Mother Earnestine Brown Four sisters-in-law: Geraldine Duncan, Emma Shields, Alma Foster, and Louise Williams. One brother-in-law: Bobby Williams. Mother Alfreda Williams will be deeply missed for her unwavering faith, love, and dedication to spreading the gospel and be fondly remembered by her children, grandchildren, siblings, four sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, friends, and a multitude of godchildren and adopted children too numerous to name.



Final and most sacred arrangements are entrusted to the professional care of The Dorchester Funeral Home, 7842 E. Oglethorpe Hwy, Midway, GA.
