Obituary

Mother Elizabeth Kelly was born on October 11, 1943, in McIntosh, Georgia. Her parents were Gertrude Kelly and Willie G. Proctor. Raised in a Christian household by her adopted parents, the late Bishop Benjamin F. Colty and his wife, in Beaufort, South Carolina. Elizabeth received her early education there. Later on, she moved to Holmestown, Georgia, to live with her grandparents, the late Bishop James and Pearl Kelly. She completed her high school education at Liberty County High School in May 1963. After graduation, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she resided with her Aunt, Mary L. Kelly. Elizabeth worked and lived in Brooklyn until she eventually moved back to Midway, Georgia, where she found employment at Walmart. She worked there until she retired due to medical reasons.

In April 2006, during Easter weekend, Elizabeth embraced Christianity as her own faith. Before this moment, she had been unwell and hospitalized. Her sister, Jacquelyn, traveled to Georgia to support her during her hospital stay. Jacquelyn shared the message of Christianity with Elizabeth, encouraging her to devote her life to Christ. Elizabeth was thrilled to inform her sister, Jackie, of her decision on Easter Sunday. She joined St. James Community Church in Midway, Georgia, while it was overseen by the late Bishop Earnest Kelly. At the time of her passing, she was under the guidance of Pastor Marvin Kelly.

Although she faced some physical challenges due to her illness, it never stopped her from regularly attending church services, District Conferences, and revivals. She also enjoyed traveling, including attending family reunions and embarking on family reunion cruises. She disliked being labeled as disabled, and instead, she found joy in helping others. Celebrating her uncles' birthdays meant organizing parties for them in the gym, and she cherished her late brother Ivory's birthday by visiting New York and spending time with him.&

Elizabeth passed from natural life into eternal life at St. Joseph Candler Hospital, Savannah, Georgia on Saturday, June 29, 2024. She is now resting eternally in the presence of the Lord.
