Obituary

Miss Melinda Baggs was born to the Late Bennie and Otha Lee Baggs on March 19, 1963.

She departed this earthly life on Monday, February 16, 2026.

Melinda was educated in the Long County School District, where she graduated as a Valedictorian of her class in 1981. She continued her education at South Carolina State University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science. She studied further at the Medical College of Georgia and received her master's degree. Melinda worked for the State of Georgia in Public Health and the last 19 years of her career she worked for the Department of Defense and most recently the Soldier Recovery Unit at Winn Army Hospital, Fort Stewart, GA

She has been a member of Full Gospel Tabernacle for many years. She was an active member of this ministry. Her heart was with the young people, and she served with immense joy and compassion with the Youth Department and the Praise Team.

Melinda's biggest joy outside of nursing was the love of her church and the praise team where she served diligently.

Melinda also had a passion for interior design and decorating.

Melinda was a phenomenal nurse that dedicated her life for caring for her family, her church family, and friends that she loved unconditionally. Her love and compassion didn't stop with those that she knew personally but to anyone she encountered.

Melinda was preceded in death by her beloved daughter Tonia Marie Baggs, her sister Lucille Baggs, and brother Larry Baggs.

Her life of compassion and love of others will be cherished by, Her son, Michael (Chris)Baggs, of Hinesville, GA, her twin sister, Melissa Baggs of Ludowici, GA, sisters, Florestine Mark, Jamaica, NY, Lula M. Towns, Simth Station, AL, brothers-in-law, Patrick Mark, Jamaica, NY, Nathaniel Towns, Smith Station, AL, sister-in-law, Zettie Baggs, Ludowici, GA.  Nephews and Nieces, Charles (Andy) Morreale, Lazarus Baggs, Nathaniel Towns Jr., Daniel Mark, Lucresha Baggs, Lorette Baggs, Sharise McNair, and Carla Towns
