Marilyn Louisa
(James) Mills
August 15, 1957 – January 15, 2023
Marilyn Mills was born in Brooklyn, New York, August 15, 1957 to the Julius and Pauline James. She was raised in Marion, SC.
Marilyn attended Mt. Zion Outreach Ministries. She enjoyed working in the Youth Department and the children loved her. She would often joke that the children loved her because she was their height. Marilyn has an infectious smile and sharp wit. She could light up any room she entered. To know her was to love her.
Marilyn worked over twenty years for the federal government, to include AAFES and Winn Army Hospital, Ft Stewart. She loved her job and the work as Medical Support Assistant. She greeted every patient with a smile and took pride in making sure they were taken care of. She is missed by faculty and patients of Winn Army Community Hospital.
Marilyn possessed a joy for life. She loved cracking jokes and making people around her laugh. She loved her family and you could see her eyes light up at the mention of her grandson's name. As Kyler grew older, seldom did you see them apart. He fondly called her Nana and they had a very close relationship. As Marilyn's health took a turn and she was hospitalized, seeing her grandson gave her a new found resilience. She fought hard and we believe God recognized that and gave her rest.
Marilyn is proceeded in death by her parents Junius and Pauline James and her sister Paula James. She entered her eternal resting place January 15, 2023. Marilyn was a loving mother, Nana, friend and coworker.
Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Taresha Hart (Immanuel), her son Terrellies Page (Janeisha), her beloved grandson Kyler Mills who was a joy to her life, close friends Shirley Thornton, Sonya Gorum, Sarah Hayes, her church family and a host of friends and coworkers who had the pleasure of knowing her.
