Marcus Benjamin
Scott Iii
November 15, 1946 – December 12, 2025
Marcus Scott III was born on November 15, 1946, in Ludowici, Georgia, to the late Marcus Scott
II and Canzola Scott. He was the third namesake in his family and the fourth of eleven children,
raised in a close-knit family grounded in strong values, resilience, and lifelong bonds.
Marcus spent his childhood in Ludowici and parts of Hinesville, Georgia, before relocating to
Miami, Florida, as a young adult. There, he built much of his adult life, embracing independence,
hard work, and fatherhood. Over time, Marcus became the proud father of seven children, a role
he cherished deeply.
Professionally, Marcus worked as a commercial truck driver, a career that reflected his strong
work ethic and love for the open road. In addition to his career, he had a deep passion for fixing
cars and racing them, which he enjoyed during his spare time. Cars were more than a hobby to
Marcus—they were a source of pride and joy.
Later in life, Marcus decided to return home, where he retired and enjoyed life on his own terms.
He found happiness in spending time with friends and hosting gatherings at his well-known
"jook joint." Seeing everyone together—laughing, smiling, and enjoying life—brought him
immense joy.
Marcus was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He
was known for his contagious personality that could light up any room. You never had to wonder
how Marcus felt—he was a straight shooter: funny, caring, dependable, and unapologetically
himself. His bold spirit, laughter, and presence left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Scott II and Canzola Scott; his brothers John
Scott and Charles Scott; and his sisters Ruth Scott and Betty Scott.
Marcus is survived by his siblings: Linda Scott, Jerold Scott, Glennie Mae Scott, Jerry Scott,
Jack Scott, and McClary Scott.
He leaves to cherish his memory of his children: Kent Stewart; Gary Stubbs; Cassandra Scott-
Porter (Lorenza); Anthony McClendon (Nicole); Marcus Scott IV (Lisa); Mark Scott; and
Shirley Scott-Garrison (Donte).
He is also survived by his grandchildren: Kenyetta Stewart, Trae Stewart, Kylie Stubbs, Gary
Stubbs Jr., Ebony Stubbs, Larhonda Stubbs, Krystal Stubbs (Rashad), Justin Stubbs, Khazi
Porter, Keegan Porter, Anthony McClendon, Antrell McClendon, Aaliyah McClendon, Marcus
Scott V, Maliyah Scott, Mark Scott Jr., Maria Scott, Mariyah Scott, Reniya Louis, Shayla Scott,
and Bella Garrison; along with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended
family, and friends.
Marcus Scott III touched the lives of many and will be remembered as the light of every room he
entered, for his deep love of family, his unforgettable laugh, and—most of all—his bold, genuine
personality.
