Joletta Bethesda Lavant was called home on Thursday, August
12, 2025, to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Joletta
was born on October 21, 1971, to the late Henry O. and Fannie
Mae Patterson in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She received her
education in Liberty County Public School System and graduated
from Bradwell Institute High School in 1989.
Joletta married her devoted husband, Edwin Lavant, Sr., on June
24, 2005. She spent 20 years happily married to the love of her
life. Over the years, Joletta worked various jobs in the food
service industry to include McDonald's, Hardees, and Burger
King throughout the low-country. Joletta was later employed by
AAFES as a general manager for Burger King where she was
stationed at several duty stations to include Alaska, Georgia,
California, Texas, and Missouri.
Joletta had a strong vigor for life. Throughout her childhood and
adulthood, she touched so many lives. Joletta leaves behind to
cherish her memory her devoted and loving husband, Edwin
Lavant Sr.; son, Edwin Lavant Jr., both of Salem, MO;
brothers: Henry O. (Mekada) Patterson III of Lithonia, GA;
Tony (Constance) Rutledge of Alabama; sister: Evangeline
(Shaka) Dyson of Dacula, GA; and a host of uncles, aunts,
nephews, and nieces.
Godfather: Rev. Dr. Earnest C. Williams Sr.; godsisters: Lisa
Williams, Keisha (Jerry) Young, and Latorra Williams and
extended family members, cousins and friends.
