Deacon John Henry Barnard, Jr., AKA Bubba, departed this life on August 5, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was a native of Liberty County, Georgia. He was proud to be called a WWII Veteran.

Deacon Barnard received his education from Liberty High School and joined the U.S. Army in 1946. He worked as an honorable civil service man for 34 years, and owned and operated his own drilling company.

In the early 1970's he enjoyed accommodating people as a travel concierge. Deacon Barnard was the longest serving deacon of Baconton Missionary Baptist Church. In his own words "there's no church like his church."

Deacon John was married to Reverend Doctor Charity Barnard for 24 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late John H. Barnard Sr., and Mother Elizabeth Barnard; his son, Ronald Walker; and his sisters and brothers.

Deacon Barnard leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing: his wife, Charity Barnard; his children William Barnard, Jimmy Barnard, Ronald Barnard, Terrell Barnard (Rhonda), Lillian Baker, and Sharon Roney; "Special Brother," Ernest (Diane) Barnard; niece, Barbara J. Jackson; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and church family and friends.
