He was a native of Hinesville, Georgia, and a graduate of Library High School class of 1958. Joe was a stellar athlete/basketball player with an unstoppable left-hand hook or fade away shot. ÂHe retired from Fort Stewart Civil Services, and he was a dedicated Liberty County School Bus Driver for 33 years. After developing dementia, in March of 2021, Joe retired from work, but not from life.

ÂJoe was the epitome of a devoted family man, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. For 60 remarkable years, Joe was the loving husband and soulmate of his devoted wife, Delois Baker. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering commitment, serving as an inspiration to all who knew them. Joe's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted father to his children and a doting grandfather to his grand and great grandchildren. His love for his family knew no bounds, and his presence brought immeasurable joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

ÂJoe had a zest for life that was infectious. He had a unique ability to light up any room with his humor, charm, and larger-than-life personality. Whether he was regaling us with stories of his youth, sharing his wisdom, or simply enjoying quality time with loved ones, Joe's presence brought warmth and joy to those around him.

ÂIn addition to his immediate family, Joe was adored by his extended family members, including cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. His love and kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we take solace in knowing that Joe's spirit will live on in the countless lives he touched. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his legacy of love will continue to inspire us for generations to come. As we bid farewell to our dear Joe, we will hold onto the memories and the love he shared with us. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing that he was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
