Jeannette Maxwell Waye, 80, of Midway departed this life on Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Memorial Health Hospital in Savannah.
She was a native of Liberty County and was born to the late Lula Bell Roberts Maxwell and Thomas Maxwell. She attended the original Liberty County High School. In 1960 she moved to Miami, FL but later returned to Liberty County where she was employed for over 30 years as a Dining Facility Shift Leader and Supervisor on Fort Stewart. While there, her professionalism and strong work performance were recognized many times over with Certificates of Achievement. After retirement, she went on to become the Foster Parent to more than 15 children, many in which she maintained a close relationship until her passing.
Left behind to cherish her loving memory are three sons; Jerome Maxwell of Queens, NY, Willie (Alice) and Vincent Waye of Riceboro and Atlanta, GA (respectively); three daughters, Bernell Alleyne
Baker of Riceboro, GA, Cheryl Waye of Cincinnati, OH and Cassandra Crawford-Bice of Fayetteville, NC; one step-son, Alfonso (Diane) Foster, of New York, NY; one brother Henry (Doris) Gartrell of Riceboro, GA and one sister Mary Edge of Ludowici, GA; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, uncles, aunts, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brother Sam (Shirley) Maxwell.
