January Dawn was born August 18th, 1952, in DeRidder, Louisiana. She as the beloved daughter of the late Reuben Freeman and Annie Lee Gibson. She made her exit to her eternal home on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, at St. Joseph's Candler Hospital, in Savannah, Georgia. She was raised in Houston, Texas prior to moving to Brunswick, Georgia.
January attended a private school in at Boggs Academy. She later joined the United States Army where she was a helicopter mechanic. Later she moved to Newport News, Virginia having later being espoused to the late Richard Hough, who preceded her in death. Having a desire to provide care for those in need, Januaryvwas inspired to study to become a Registered Nurse graduating from the College of Coastal Georgia in Brunswick, Georgia. She retired from being a Registered Nurse for nearly 20 years after working in the medical facilities and traveling from home to home.
January was married to Milton Edward Smith for 6 1/2 years where they two founded the Faith Building Ministries in Jesup, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents and two of her siblings: one brother: Robert Freeman, and one sister:&Waldine Freeman.
She leaves to cherish her memory to her loving husband, Elder Milton E. Smith of Hinesville, Georgia; two daughters: LaShawnda Hough and Brenda Newton, both of Brunswick, Georgia; four other children:: Priscilla Lewis of Fayetteville, North Carolina; Regina Hough of Virginia, Alvin Hough of South Carolina and Tina Blackmon of TN; one daughter in love: Shanetha S. House of Lugoff, South Carolina; two brothers: Reuben Freeman Jr of Houston, Texas; Joseph (Tula) Freeman of Trenton, Georgia; three sisters Ruby (Miguel) Zegarra of Brunswick, Georgia; Geraldine Pouchie' of Folkston, Georgia; Minnie (Kenneth) Bice of Houston, Texas. two loving grandchildren: Sa'Riah Hough and Elbert Freeman; a host of Aunts and Uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
