Obituary

“

James lived a remarkable life that crossed continents and was marked by faith, perseverance, family, and service.

James Kiarie Mugwe was born on February 6, 1969. His Christian journey began early in life when he was baptized on February 1, 1970, at St. Stephen's Church in Tabora, Tanzania, by Rev. G. Defty. He was later confirmed on July 24, 1982, at CPK St. John's, Kangemi, now ACK St. John's, by the Rt. Rev. S. Magua.

James received his primary education at Kihumbu-ini Primary School from 1974 to 1981. He attended Kangemi High School and later Ruiru High School, where he was a member of the Geography Club, served as a dining hall assistant, and played volleyball.

He went on to pursue higher education at the University of Athens, Faculty of Law, in Athens, Greece.

James's life and career took him across several continents. He lived and worked in Greece from 1991 to 1993, returned to Kenya and worked as a Sales Representative for MEHM Trade Ltd. in Nairobi in 1994, and later lived and worked in Saudi Arabia from 1995 to 2005. In 2006, he began a new chapter of his life in the United States of America.

In November 2006, James joined the United States Army, completing his training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, where he served with the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division. During his military service, his unit received the Meritorious Unit Commendation. James served his country with honor until he was honorably medically retired in August 2011.

Above all, James was a devoted family man. He shared his life with his beloved wife, Catherine Marion Njuhi Kinuthia, and was the proud father of Vivian Muthoni Kiarie, John Mugwe Kiarie, and Graham Kinuthia Kiarie. He was also a proud and loving grandfather to Semaj White, London White, and Soleia Javier, through whom his legacy continues into another generation.

James was a beloved brother to his sisters, Jane Waceke, Anne Wambui, Belinda Wanjiru, Peris Njuhi, and Loice Matara, and his brother, Graham Gichamba. He also leaves behind extended family, friends, fellow soldiers, and loved ones in Kenya, the United States, and around the world.

James lived a remarkable life that crossed continents and was marked by faith, perseverance, family, and service. From Kenya to Greece, Saudi Arabia, and ultimately the United States, he embraced each chapter of his journey with determination. He pursued opportunity, worked hard to build a life for his family, and answered the call to serve his country. Yet among all that he accomplished, his greatest legacy lives on through his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his family, and the many lives he touched along the way.

Though his earthly journey has ended, James Kiarie Mugwe will forever live in the hearts and memories of those who knew and loved him. May his soul rest in eternal peace
