Obituary

I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7

Elder Harry Lee Houston, 72, was born August 15, 1950 to the late Franklin Davis (David) Jones Sr. and Evangelist Alfredia Houston Williams in Liberty County, Georgia. Our heavenly Father called him home to rest on Wednesday morning, October 26, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Elder Houston was educated in the public schools of Liberty County. He was a humble, patient, quite man who trained himself as an master auto-mechanic. He could fix almost any vehicle and customers traveled for miles seeking his expertise. His determination to be an entrepreneur led him to open his own business January 1, 1977 called On the Spot Used Cars and Parts.

Elder Houston accepted Christ on October 6, 1977 at Long Reach New Church of Christ, under the leadership and direction of the late Elder Henry Edwards. He was licensed and ordained as a minister on October 1, 1980. Then, October 22, 2006, Elder Houston was appointed to serve as moderator of Union District I at the New Church of Christ of the Apostolic Faith, Inc. until May 25, 2022 when his health failed. He also served as the Assistant Pastor of Long Reach for twenty-two years and on October 25, 2009 he was installed as the pastor of Long Reach Church.

On November 22, 1977, he was joined in holy matrimony to First Lady Prophetess Gwinnette Roberts-Houston.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his loving and devoted wife of forty-five years, First Lady Prophetess Gwinnette Roberts Houston.
