Geneva (Ervin)
Burkes
August 15, 1954 – June 21, 2024
Geneva E. Burkes passed away at the age of 69 and forever will be 69 "and fine" in her words. A loving Wife, Mother, Sister, Auntie. Mom became friends with whomever she'd meet as to know her was to love her. If u didn't know who she was her presence just hearing her voice would make you familiar with her. She would introduce herself by telling you her name is G-Money and if u didn't know, u better ask somebody! Geneva Burkes was Born August 15, 1954 in Clarksdale Mississippi and raised in Memphis Tennessee, mom moved to Youngstown Ohio with her mother Louise Ervin and siblings Charlene, Gwen, and Todd. She received her associate's degree in accounting from Youngstown State University while raising her oldest son, Michael Flowers. A proud Black Panther Geneva was a force to be reckoned with, she could cut like a sword with her words and turn around and be as sweet as honey after. Geneva married on July 10, 1984, to the love of her life Wesley Burkes. During their 40 years of marriage Geneva had two more children, Quiyana Burkes, Uzuri Burkes who preceded her in death in 2019. Our mother exemplified the true definition of love, strength and courage throughout life and her testimony was well written with them. Mom may be gone from this world, but her spirit will forever live on through us her family, adopted family members and friends. God has truly gained an angel we thank God for the wonderful sixty-nine years you have blessed us with her.
Fly high my wife, my mother, my grandma, my sister, my auntie, my friend, you are gone but will never-ever be forgotten "we love you to the moon and back".
You might have had your last walk here on earth, but you will always have a long and everlasting ride in heaven. I love you we love you sleep in peace.
Geneva is survived by her Husband Wesley Burkes, Daughter Quiyana Burkes, Son Michael Flowers, her sisters Gwen McCrae, Charlean Cooper, and brother Todd Ervin. Mother-in-law Mrs. Dicy C. Burkes; Grandchildren Nadia Burkes, Lauren Burkes, Zuri Burkes, Damien Stroman. Great Aunt Fannie Duck as well as other family members, and friends near and far.
