Obituary

Caring, resilient and loyal are all words that describe Ella Harris. She was a mother and grandmother to many and also a nurturing Healthcare professional. On April 18, 2026, Ella Harris departed this world she's known for her eternal place of rest.

Ella was born in Midway, Georgia in 1947. She was the third of five children born to Ernest and Elise Harris. She inherited a rich legacy of family and love.

One of the most caring and loving people ever, Ella Harris attended school in Liberty County, Georgia, where she was affectionately known as a "glamour girl" during her teenage years. With a natural love for fashion and design, Ella was admired for her impeccable style and graceful presence, often drawing attention wherever she went. Her vibrant personality and warm spirit made her well-loved, and she formed many cherished friendships throughout her youth.

Ella held a special bond with her nephew, Douglas, with whom she spent treasured time before departing Liberty County. In 1975, Ella relocated her family to St. Petersburg, Florida, where she embraced the beauty of sunny days, peaceful beach views, and the calming tranquility of the ocean air.

In St. Petersburg, Ella pursued her passion for creativity by becoming a talented fashion designer and seamstress. She also built lifelong friendships with dear companions, Ms. Nora and Bobbie Parker, who became an important part of her journey. Later, Ella dedicated herself to caring for others through her work as a nurse, where she formed a meaningful connection with the Snell family. Mrs. Snell and her son, Rand, became like family to Ella, and together they shared many treasured years of love, friendship, and lasting memories.

Above all, Ella's greatest joy was her family. She loved her children and grandchildren beyond measure and treasured every moment spent with them. She found happiness in nurturing her plants, caring for them with the same devotion and tenderness she gave to her loved ones. Ella was also delighted in shopping with her daughter, Maxine, and took great joy in collecting sentimental treasures. Her love for her son Lawrence was boundless as they would often enjoy family time at the lake and traveling around the city of St. Petersburg. Ella Harris was a woman of remarkable strength and resilience who loved her children
dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Harris and Elise Alston; her daughter, Connie Harris; and her siblings, Marvin Harris and Bernice Jones. She leaves this legacy of love and care to her children: Lawrence Polite Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Maxine Harris Gaddy of Columbus, Georgia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lawrence Polite III, Kaila Polite, Khalil Gaddy, and Lorenzo Polite; two great-grandchildren; her siblings, Ernestine Walthour (Willie G) of Midway, Georgia, and Deloris Carswell of Richmond Hill, Georgia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
