He performed various jobs including working at a saw mill in Liberty County, Georgia. At an early age, Eddie had a small family of his own and migrated to Savannah, Georgia in 1955. Even after Eddie relocated his family to Savannah, he continued to assist his family and father. One of his greatest honors was to assist his father in the construction of the first church building. When asked to help, Eddie and Ruth did not hesitate to take on the challenge. Eddie and his first wife, Ruth, were never reluctant to open their home to those that were in need.
